Owned by OLX Group — which owns another 18 similar platforms across the globe and across industries. Facing pressure from both domestic and international competition – and struggling with disparities in their visual identity and product across different markets. The company needed a whole new experience to set it apart globally, unify its markets, and go beyond classifieds.

Working closely with the DesignStudio team, my role was to bring the brand to life, creating a dynamic motion language that expressed all the optimism and attitude that’s true to OLX.

It’s not about UI Animation

OLX's motion system is composed of five patterns for transitioning between components or full-screen views. Looking at our digital experience, we designed the movement of simple basic shape-layers to create the foundations of the spirit of the brand.

Lens

Once motion principles were applied to the UI elements, we created a motion language where the user interface meets the core of the company. Agile and flexible, the motion gives the flexibility to move between options with confidence, shifting the negative perceptions of second-hand to something smart, positive and fun.

Uh-oh

We developed a comprehensive brand hub, equipping all teams throughout the business with the essential tools for a global brand launch. This hub includes brand guidelines, digital guidelines, articles, an avatar generator, and plenty of visual inspiration to keep the 'Smart Choices' attitude.

A comprehensive UI library for internal product teams to use across all OLX global markets. 

Results

The new brand is rolling out in 20+ countries across the world, and local teams have already begun to capture the spirit of ‘Smart choices’ with bold new campaigns. With a powerful new brand and digital experience to match, OLX can go from strength to strength, breaking with energy the negative perceptions of second-hand to something clever and positive.
